Too much shamanic shifting to blog about!

Visit us...here, here, or here.

We who began this blog to celebrate "shamanic shifting by any name" realized a while ago that looking at the world through shamanizing eyes while practicing situation shamanization anywhere caused us to start seeing shamanic shifting everywhere. That is lots of fun but we quickly became too bloggled to blog.

So we shifted away from this blogging project and its cousin blog to further our shamanic foolishness elsewhere on the Web 2.0 where link lists and link libraries have become obsolete anyway.

Shamanic shifting by any other name

City Paint Spots - Image from ImageAfter.Com

...is what this blog was opened up to acknowledge originally...to acknowledge and celebrate shamanic shifting we notice occuring anyway, anywhere. Consciousness and reality shifting are happening everywhere through arts, sciences, technologies, and even religion and many spiritual traditions (new, ancient, or reconstructed). The 'even' is added because key to our shamanics practicing is shifting attention and energy-flow away from fun-deprived, like most organized religion and many "alternative" systems of spirituality.

We shifted from calling upon any exotic, mystical, or mysterious NAME for universal life power to calling for FUN (which can mean Fun Freely Flowing Universal Unity Unfurling New Now or any of the other versions any of our circle have come up with so far). We shifted from traveling to faraway places and foreign cultures or seeking shamanic teachings from indigenous tribal shamans (by whatever name they are called) back towards more purposeful inhabiting of our own backyards, front porches, and neighborhoods. We are shifting from theologizing to questing and dreaming better and best in all beings, places, events, and situations through new shamanics - in and as the fringes of Mystery, Imagination, and Reality.

Shamanic shifting is living as a shamanizer always in-costume and in-rhythm yet somehow blending in and merging up bridges or weaving re-connections, walking around this world performing non-ordinary shifts amidst ordinary business...visibly or invisibly and probably some of each. Shamanic shifting is opening sacred spacetime with or without fanfare, in resonance with whatever the present circumstances are presenting.

Shamanic shifting - what else do we mean?

This post continues 'Shamanic Shifting - what do we mean?' and we will keep adding on for a while. Shamanic shifting is a contemporary shamanic way of ways of being ecstatic life adventure and play, the way of the shaman fool - living the open-ended Quest for better and best and asking good leading questions intentionally wherever you go. It is our way to ask questions of our shamanic helpers for knowledge and tranforming power in non-ordinary reality to receive healing solutions and ask questions of neighbors and clans in ordinary reality for understanding to stir up visioning power.

In shamanic shifting personal healing is a way to catalyze community and universal healing - we shift attention from the individual to the circle quickly. Acknowledging what we don't want is just the beginning of shifting attention to what we do want.

The shamanic shifter is an outwardly entertaining fringe character traveling along the edges of involvement and solitude (who may even be costumed in fringes) who sets up a sacred spacetime stage anywhere to help whenever two or three or more call for shamanic assistance. The shamanic shifter becomes the MC for an improv ceremonial play, helping the circle to act out new dreams, dances, and stories from Spirit and Spirits while keeping and cooking the inward container of alchemical change for all the beings, places, and situations participating.

Shamanic shifters set up shrine-portals wherever we go to give permission at more and more spacetime coordinates for transformation by Spirit and Spirits towards the best to keep happening in those places. These ad hoc sanctuaries can be tiny and secret or city-sized and advertised.

Shamanic shifters continuously study yet continuously 'forget' many systems of magic and medicine - more shamanic foolishness. Learning what other scientists, philosophers, and spiritual practitioners have discovered gives Spirits more pictures and sounds for communicating within our shamanic journeys and dreams. Forgetting is key too, for each shamanic shifter is given original healing and transforming ways by Spirit and Spirits and singular interventions for each situation at hand.

Shamanic shifting - what do we mean?

In modern western societies shamanic roles and functions have been played and carried out by all kinds of original and visionary philosophers, scientists, and artists. So shamanic ways have never really been lost here. There are scholarly articles published in peer reviewed academic journals linking shamans and shamanism to philosophers, scientists, and artists sometimes available to all for free or for a fee. We have linked here in this weblog to a wild overwhelmingly wide diversity of shamanic shifters in many fields of human adventuring.

Shamans and shamanic ways have stayed with us or moved forward and shapeshifted and circled around us in many forms or in disguises. So is there really any urgent need to recover and revive older shamanic ways as such in order to shamanic shift our world?

The fact that traditional shamanic ways are being modernized and adapted and practiced more widely in more everyday settings - including institutions, corporations, and communities and even mainstream religious bodies - suggests a widespread crying need for more overt, intentional shamans in our northern and western world. Anyway, shamans are said to appear as needed - always in all ways.

Practitioners of contemporary and alternative medicine (CAM) have been reinventing and overlapping shamanic ways for many years. Some coin a new or proprietary name for their shamanic methods and techniques to avoid controversy or confusion and/or hold onto trademarks. CAM probably has shamanic shifted the standard western medical paradigms a significant bit over the years. Theater, movies, and music have always been full of shamanisms. Certainly creative and expressive arts have been shamanic shifting the popular culture drastically below the surface and behind the scenes.

Now contemporary shamanic healers and teachers everywhere (like a few or us) are hanging out their professional shaman shingles or touring internationally - perhaps because the world is more ready than ever for more shamans to appear. Many contemporary shamans (or shamanic practitioners as many prefer to say) attempt to carry on yet individualistically adapt the teachings of an aboriginal tradition or tradition-blend and travel far and wide to study under shamans indigenous to 3rd world lands. Yet many innovate and invent more staying within western world settings, and some perform on the leading edges and outlandish fringes of reality and consciousness, as well as pushing out the frontiers of art, science, and philosophy even further.

Is all of this shamanizing converging at our current spacetime coordinates because a greater need for shamans than the world has ever known before is calling out now? Maybe someone who listens carefully will hear the prayer 'more shamans...please...all kinds of shamans...any kinds...even plastic sham -ons...bring them all on, Spirits...ASAP' pleading in the stormy winds now rocking our world boat so violently.

The concept of living ecstatically and fully the resonance of who you are within your current context as the most powerful reality and consciousness shifting shamanic action possible is a favorite. This way of shamanic shifting is expressed eloquently and beautifully by Dan Millman and Robin Rice and many others including many of the blogging Zaadz integral living practioners. When we say 'Be Shamanic Shift' we mean all of that and whatever else we have written about shamanic shifting so far (above and elsewhere). And we mean even more.

Finding more shamanic shifters at Zaadz

Shamanic Shift is showing off zPro! And zPro is showing us a few more shamanic shifters around the web. Many Zaadzsters are not practicing shamanic ways as such, yet a significant number are and many more practice what we would call 'shamanic shifting' by some other name. Some of the new zPro sites are very new and not developed yet but they link to the owners profile and often a blog and links to more. I am finding zPro to be an interesting set of sites to explore even though most of the nearly 300 of them (so far) are sparse because often there is another full website or weblog behind the new zPro site. I blog about these sites here because this weblog is for 'shamanic shifting going on' in any field, whether it's called shamanic or something else and at Zaadz shamanic ways are usually blended with other practices, though not always. (To us 'shamanic shifting' is bringing new dreams, dances, stories, and shapes to life in this world and helping other spirits, energy flows, and patterns shift on to the next right places, one of the broadest of concepts, possibly too broad we realize.)

Advertizing Zaadz again: As I have written before, Zaadz.Com offers a social network especially for Integral Life Practice (ILP) enthusiasts and all sorts of spiritually and socially conscious capitalists as in free-enterprisers. So there are as many shamanic practitioners from the more contemporary to more traditional getting comfortable within Zaadz as there are in other spiritual networks. Shamanic ways are originally and naturally 'integral' and blend, merge, and overlap with almost all ways towards re-creative, co-creative self-awareness and spiritual activism so clicking around Zaadz makes finding more 'shamanic shifters' (no matter what they do or call themselves or are called) way too easy.

A few zPro sites attracting a second look today:

Authenticity - not much is there yet at the zPro site but the profile leads to StillMotionMag.Com, an online 'magazine for modern mystics (also new) by Dava Money ('Village Shaman') with free Authenticity Oracle Card readings.

Crow Rising Transformational Media - the 'new paradigm writings' of Sol Luckman, who writes '...As keeper and conduit of the Creator’s knowledge of creation, Crow is intimately aware of our god-given ability to modify universal rules and “shape-shift,” both personally and collectively—that is, consciously co-create or manifest new ways of living and being....'

Resonance Applied Earth Wisdom - Medicine Wheels as "maps of wholeness" and vision quests (and retreats) are featured at the new zPro site with links to Resonance. To, the original website of Pele Rouge and Firehawk.

Interiors For Healing by Esther Moonji Davis is a '...a professional organizing business with a solid foundation in the basics of feng shui, energy conservation, recycling, and maximizing storage....' and a home website at InteriorsForHealing.Com.

So what next? When a few of us opened this weblog and it's cousin we were supposing it would be possible and useful to coalesce a shamanic blogging and blogging shamanic shifting nexus as as a useful, entertaining reference for self-educational purposes and fun - but that notion was soon debunked, all except for the fun and self-education. Not only are there way too many diverse wondrous shamanic and shamanic shifting sites online to catalog and link up and hundreds more going up every moment - but we quickly noticed how easily anyone who wants to quest on this topic can find thousands of shamanic blogs just by clicking around social networks, as well as by falling back on Technorati and Google searches. Even though this project is and has always been obsolete we decided keep it restfully active (just in case) and add on once in a while, keeping up with Glacier's relentless pace. (We are still open for suggestions for sidebar linkage.)

Awaiting suggestions...What is shamanic shifting around your web?

Wisdom shifting: If you haven't yet visited and signed up at Wisdomology.Com go take a look. James and Lauren co-founded Wisdomology to be the answer to this question: 'Why shouldn't you be able to have deep, inspiring, meaningful conversations every day? Any time of day? Whenever you want or need to?' You can do quite a bit of re-creative wisdom sharing with the free account at Wisdomology or sign up for a premium account if you want more options. I am testing a 'Pro' account and I love the place so far. What a blessing and good fortune it is that I was nudged there by Spirit(s) early enough to sign-up at a deep discount.

What is shamanic shifting your world?

Here is a a shamanic shifting blog: Sean, creator and maintainer of PagAnarchy and the author of...

To be honest and make my life public is a form of activism..." and such words are a thrill to read these days, just as much as this blog, PAGANARCHY: THE HAIRY JEDI is refreshingly, luridly green.

Shamanic Shifting of habits of perspective, posture, story, thought, word, deed, intention, all of the above, more!

Website shift [Updated, May 24]: A little while ago I began reorganizing and refocusing Shamantic!'s website into WordPress, shifting the presentation towards the Universal Peregrine Companion's emerging tradition-blend of shamanic shifting, re-creative dreaming, and co-creative fun restoring techniques from diverse sources. This is the update: That project had to be abandoned, thanks to Trickster's antics. Every php-scripted page with a MySQL database had to be deleted suddenly a few days ago and replaced after a popup generating infection struck. I am still reeling yet recovering from the shock while catching up and catching my breath.

Shamantic!'s new new site now being set up at Zaadz is linked in this title so please pay a visit! Updating there is still slow since I shifted course again this month and renewed my efforts to write a definitive book on Shamanic Ways, to be published first as an eBook and course of instruction during this year. Our shamanic way of ways draws from many traditions and fields yet is original and singular as well as emerging so I am determined that this book will be new and different.

In the meanwhile: I am impressed and influenced by other reality and consciousness shifting websites...

We are checking and updating our blogrolls too, little by little.

Many Real Shamans Among Us

Intellectuals discuss Grof and Wilber (title links to LILA.info article) and look more towards eastern traditions for reference but I say there are shamans everywhere even in our materialist western society...all around shamans who shift consciousness and reality in very many ways with the highest degree of 'bigger picture' awareness (some who are well known and many more who are unknown) and shaman specialists who shift reality in more circumscribed areas of practice...using only one or two techniques or shamanizing around specific issues in certain contexts...maybe without awareness of being shamanic, maybe while popularizing some new notion, or maybe while being homeless and wandering the city streets. Shamans always practice within a community yet this day and age shamanic contexts can be emerging ones...and the shamanic ways - consciousness, story, energy-flow-pattern, and reality shifting on purpose + direct experience of Spirit(s) and ongoing revelation + adventuring the non-ordinary and always returning + sacred circling and spiritual companionship - are emerging too.

This site was opened to collect shamanic shifting links especially to weblogs and eZines but also to any shamanic shifting web content that is 'shamanic' in some wilder or mostly non-traditional way - in other fields than religion and spirituality or technoshamanic or cybershamanic or 'you name it 'shamanic. The lists on the sidebar get added onto even if none of us can update our blogging very often. At least we can keep this weblog and its cousin blog here as an emerging reference or nexus for shamanic shifting links. Please let us know if you have anything to add.

If you blog shamanic shifting, please join your weblog to our Shamanic Shifting RingSurf blogring. Also we are setting up a forum-circle as another nexus for Shamanic Shift Center and Aloha Salem Quest (ASQ) School of the Shaman Fool - an emerging self-educational university shamanic shifting ways. While researching forum software and such things I found that LILA's forum has a wonderful list of shamanic shifting topics and their shamanic links page is highly look-worthy.

Freedom Shifting Companions

This is longer than usual because it says so much that is key...It was sent by J. Marshall a Milwaukee companion of the Wednesday night circle that focuses upon freedom shifts for earth, moon, galaxy, and universe through libertarian voluntary cooperation as a natural, spiritual way.

Sustainable Freedom:
Shifting the World
By Claire Wolfe

It's a simple fact. To become free and stay free, we need to shift our cultural paradigm about the role government should play in our lives.

Only with a new way of thinking about happiness and government's role in it do we have the opportunity to create Sustainable Freedom.

Change the concept and millions can suddenly, easily perceive that government is not their friend. Change the concept and millions have opportunity and inspiration to look in the one place freedom is actually available -- in ourselves.

Tapping free-people power

Fortunately freedom lovers are uniquely equipped to give that cultural paradigm the final shove when the moment is right.

We don't have numbers, true. At the moment we're often marginalized as wing-nuts, throwbacks, or amusing cranks. But we do have two key weapons and one potential one that few of us truly appreciate. They are:

  • Workable ideas
  • Personal style1
  • (the potential one) The power of our own integrity

Together these characteristics give us a so-far untapped capability to become inspirational and practical (not political!) leaders.

Margaret Mead said, "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."

We tend to pigeonhole that statement as pertaining to political activism. But it goes far beyond. Think of the many small groups of people who've had enormous influence on culture or belief. The French Impressionists, for instance, were a tiny group of artists -- a dozen or two. Yet they altered the entire Western art world forever, blowing away iron-bound conventions and giving birth, for good or ill, to modern art.

Think of "amusing cranks" like Robert Goddard who played with rockets back in the 1930s, 40s, and 50s. People considered them laughable -- until they gave birth to the space age.

Think of Jews and gays. Each of those groups constitutes about three percent of the U.S. population. But look at the enormous cultural influences they've exerted. Jews have contributed mightily to American entertainment, cuisine, language, and scholarship. Gays have heavily influenced the arts, entertainment, fashion, and more. In both cases, their influence far exceeds what anyone might predict from their numbers.

Now look at freedom-seekers. We tend to be above average in intelligence (sometimes way above). Entrepreneurial. We create wealth. We create ideas. We create products. Our individualism makes us stand out in a crowd -- which is often uncomfortable. But the fact that we've had to forge and defend our own identity means we're likely to be less gullible, less malleable, less likely to fall for whatever load of propagandistic or fashionable crap is being peddled.

It means that we have had to develop strong core selves. People with strong inner cores are natural influencers and inspirers. Others may not always like us. They may find us inconvenient and uncomfortable to be around, since our very existence challenges their premises. But many of us are nevertheless the kind of people others turn to in a crisis.

We are every bit as impressive a cultural phenomenon as Jews and gays.2 Numbers? Who needs 'em? Well, we'll need 'em later -- and we'll use our inspirational and practical skills to generate them. But they're not necessary for starters.

Big government looks more powerful today than ever. But the ideas that prop up big government are weak. Tired. Moribund. The notion that a bunch of ordinary fallible people, locked in far-away bureaucracies or barging into our castles in ninja suits, know more about what's good for us than we know ourselves is simply an absurdity. A fantasy. A wet-dream for power lovers and a nightmare for people who truly want to achieve satisfying lives.

Already, solid ideas that can replace this evil fantasy are being forged. The ideas for a new freedom reach back into history, inward into spirituality, outward to community, forward into technology. The philosphical and practical preparations for freedom are being made. The groundwork is being laid.

Much more needs to be done. But despite the darkness of these days, freedom creators have already made a bright beginning whose power may only become clear from history's perspective.

Preparing to drive the shift

But "history" doesn't have to mean 100 years. History is rushing upon us.

You know it; I know it. A day will come -- possibly within the next decade -- when the U.S. version of big government will collapse under its own weight, just as the Soviet version of big government did. Unlike the Soviet government, which took nothing but the credibility of Communism with it when it fell, the U.S. government -- dollar-provider to the world -- is likely to take other governments with it and lead to major disillusionment with government-as-usual.

At that moment, we have the opportunity to reveal the pro-government fantasy as bankrupt financially, morally, intellectually, and philosophically.

At that moment, the paradigm is ready to shift.

Remember, even mainstream prognosticators are now beginning to predict that the government will soon have to either do much less or tax (and inflate) much more. They're making that look like two awful alternatives. We on the other hand, own the best and truest answer: "Life for all of us can become better as government does less. Look, we're doing it this very minute."

So what, specifically, can we do to get the momentum rolling?

Begin with our own lives (as a lot of us already have), then work our way outward. Lay the groundwork now. Have a little patience. And be ready to push when the ground starts to shift. Five things in particular:

1. Take the Happiness Paradigm to heart. Live with the understanding that the greatest satisfaction comes from being fully engaged in the world and meeting personal challenges.

When we do that, we're happier and more confident of being able to make a difference. We'll live larger. And thus we'll also stand as an example to others, which is where the world begins to change.

As more adopt the Happiness Paradigm, fewer have use for the current "Government is our friend" paradigm.

Yes, this seems like a slow, iffy way to lay freedom's foundations. It is. But when the paradigm supporting big government starts to fall, this alone puts thousands of inspirational leaders in place.

2. Practice living the ideals of a Free Man. Expect the best of ourselves and others and we're more likely to get it. We're also more likely to inspire others around us to develop their own freedom-sustaining expectations.

Remember: Real freedom isn't merely an intellectual concept. Real freedom is a lifelong style of behavior.

Again, I know. Meeting Free Man ideals seems both very large (when we're stumbling through our days) and very small (when we think in a linear way about how much, or how little, a single person can accomplish). But as with the Happiness Paradigm, we become stronger. We are better equipped to lead by example.

3. Practice (and share) freedom technology. Okay, you see what's going to happen when the governmental house of cards collapses. Millions don't. Probably most of your neighbors don't. We often fear what those self-blinded millions might do -- to us, to our gulches, our food stocks, our preparations -- on the day the politician byproduct plops into those whirling blades.

But what if, instead of dreading, we encouraged development of freedom skills and even built freedom-enabling community businesses? True, at this point not many are interested. So you don't tell your neighbors, "You must do this because the world is going to end tomorrow!" Instead, you introduce a class in gunsmithing, form a food-canning work-group, or start a neighborhood-based business because:

"It's a great chance to get back to basics."

"Simple living saves the environment."

"Community self-support empowers everyone."

Yes, once again, this seems like such a small thing! And it is. Even more discouraging, we can expect conditions in the country to keep getting worse as we strive to make these tiny improvements on a local, even neighborhood, level. Because things do get worse for a while, as predatory dinosaurs weaken from their wounds.

But once again, when bad times come (whether they come in dramatic TSHTF fashion or more quietly, in spreading depression), you have created a network of people who are more freedom-ready.

It doesn't even matter if the people joining you share your politics or philosophy. In fact, talk politics only discreetly. People can become friends of freedom first by doing. Some may never share our ideas -- but they'll still be better capable of acting autonomously, which is essential. And many may make the crucial philosophical connection that enables them to go on to be inspirational and practical freedom-sustainers.

4. Agitate with ideas -- and with subtlety! Freedom lovers are idea factories. We write articles, post to discussion groups, give speeches, grab lapels. And why not? We have provocative ideas that work in the real world.

On the day our neighbors finally "get" that government doesn't work, they'll be ready for something that does. And it'll be largely up to us to make sure freedom is the idea they try (as opposed to simply fleeing from the present mess to some different crackpot notion of big government).

Our biggest problem is the abovementioned lapel-grabbing. And insistence on all-or-nothing agreement. Hey, if you do that, cut it out!

The keys are:

  • Find out what moves somebody
  • Establish common ground on the thing that matters to them
  • Toss a practical, freedom-enabling idea at them on that subject
  • Give them time to consider it
  • Show by example that the idea can work, or at least show by example that you're the kind of person whose ideas do work.

Some of us will do this on a small scale -- simply giving a gift of new ideas to our neighbors. Others will do it large, with speeches or books. But again ... doing it in the right way at the right time can enormously magnify freedom's persuasive power.

5. Think freedom systems. Freedom systems are the technologies, institutions, and communities that enable people to deal with each other in a structured, but also a voluntary, way. They are the glue that holds societies together without the interference of government.

In our present world, government has taken over in many areas where freedom systems could do a better job. For instance, government dominates identity documents (which is by no means as natural a development as we often assume). But government dominance steals our privacy, where freedom-based systems could be created and marketed with privacy protection as a feature to attract potential customers.

Some freedom-enhancing "social glue" can be recaptured only after government is thoroughly out of our way. But there are some systems we -- that is, the very best and brightest among us -- can develop, or begin to develop, now.

With a lot help from a friend who must remain anonymous for the moment, I'm thinking things like this:

  • Anonymous digital payment methods (technically possible, but derailed)
  • Cyberspace marketplaces (already well on their way)
  • Trust systems to enable strangers to evaluate strangers in commercial transactions or social networking (similar to the very non-invasive eBay community ratings system, but much more layered and sophisticated -- without being invasive)
  • Digital ID for use online without destruction of privacy
  • Community-based businesses
  • Non-governmental mediation and arbitration services
  • Privacy-respecting banking

The great virtues of these systems are: 1) They don't require their users to be full-flown libertarians before getting involved; 2) They make it hard, unnecessary, or undesirable for government to insert itself; and 3) They reinforce and perpetuate, and therefore make sustainable, freedom-enhancing personal choices. (Not to mention they can potentially make some entrepreneur very successful.)

Take anonymous payments, for instance. Even people who just adore government still like to hide their private doings and escape outrageous taxes. So anonymous pay systems have a large built-in market. A self-interested, non-political market.

Take sophisticated (but privacy-respecting!) systems for determining how trustworthy an individual is likely to be in a transaction with strangers. The EBay community already does this in a primitive fashion, but more is possible. Sellers, buyers, and anyone making contacts online benefit by having such a system. Again, users don't have to arrive as full-fledged freedom lovers. Once they do enter, however, the system itself rewards -- and therefore helps sustain -- honorable Free Man behaviors and discourages dishonorable ones.

So what if many of the users couldn't care less about freedom? They patronize freedom-enabling systems for their own selfish benefit. The systems grow. Similar systems are created. And future users are, without coercion, directed automatically into a whole complex of freedom-enhancing behaviors.

Freedom becomes built in to society's institutions.

Now it's very true that, as any developing freedom system threatens the hegemony of that staggering tyrannosaur in DC, government will try to co-opt it, legislate against it, or come down on it with a herd of jackboots. Yes, this will happen. In some sad cases, the onslaught will be successful. Some people will suffer.

In other cases, Our Glorious Leaders (who, remember, tend to have less grasp of technology than your great granny does) won't even recognize that some freedom-enabling system is a threat -- until it's too late.

As mentioned earlier, the dying tyrannosaur doesn't go down without a lot of flailing. But then what happens? As the beast roars and strikes out, the people with the most smarts and the most money get sick of being threatened and (enabled by technology) they move offshore. It's already happening. Someday the stream of expats and PT multi-millionaires will become a mighty river.

Some small country -- maybe in the Caribbean, maybe in the South Pacific, maybe in Europe -- sees opportunity in all this fleeing wealth. Its own best and brightest people look at the U.S. and say, "You know, The Big Superpower can still thunder and threaten, but it ain't what it used to be." So instead of being cowed into submission (a tactic the U.S. has counted on to control would-be financial havens) the people of this little country set up a truly private banking system. No government registration numbers required for customers. No totally unnecessary "know your customer" privacy-raping procedures. No reporting to any snoop agency. No handing customer records over without a valid court order. Customers' financial doings are -- what a nineteenth-century concept! -- solely their own business. This lovely banking system is accessible at first only to the billionaires and multi-millionaires. But gradually it's services expand to us mere mortals.

Or defying the odds, the little pirate country makes itself the defiant home to the anonymous digital payment system and refuses to reveal the identities of the system's users -- because it can't, but also because it sees profit in protecting privacy.

Countries that try that now tend to get beaten down. But when shift day nears ... one little country could defy the odds, prove that big government has weakened ... and there there earth goes, shaking under our feet.

The end

And that -- in a very small nutshell -- is the condensed version of how I believe we can restore freedom when the time is right, and how we can make it sustainable once we win it. I'd like to give more detail, but your coffee, croissant, and time have probably already run out -- as has my editor's willingness to put up with me. With a little help from my friends, I'll write more about this subject, with more detail, in another medium.

But the main thing is:

Freedom has a chance of enduring next time if it's not imposed by law but born through inspiration, integrity. Freedom has a chance of enduring if it rises from the real individuals who have to live it. Freedom has a chance of enduring if working free-market systems automatically reinforce everyday Free Man behaviors.

Is this concept glamorous? No. Dramatic as a Glorious Revolution? No. Guaranteed to happen? No. A magic bullet? No.

Does it give us one central point we can all rally round, one big effort lead by a handful of guerrilla generals? Does it give us flags to fly at the head of our column? Nope. But then ... isn't that concept of organization part of the paradigm we're trying to replace

We must be our own, and our neighbors', leaders. Ironically, we must be leaders who enable our neighbors not to need and not to crave leaders.

Is Sustainable Freedom difficult? Yes. Iffy? Yes. But perhaps the best long-term hope we have.

Next week: Back to Hardyville.

1 Major tip of the hat to Joel Simon for pointing my thoughts in the direction of style.

2 Kinda makes you wonder what a gay Jewish freedom lover could accomplish. :-)

Stone Circles of Weblogs

Yesterday I found myself facinated in the Stone Circles weblog linked in the title. On the blogroll there is a list of 'connected blogs' and I after exploring I realized this is a 'systems' and IT circle blogging their experiences. There are many external and internal link trails to follow.

The most overtly shamanic of the connected blogs is Making Friends With Consciousness by Sylvia Ho. I found reports of code shifting at HyperReactiveNeurons and even signed up Shamanic Shift for the free version of 14dayz. All these web spaces are in some way about creative shifting.

27 June 2006

Now playing at integral naked...

Real 'shamans' , no matter what they are called within their various contexts, shift reality through shifing consciousness and in our web journeys we come across many inner and outer theological, philosophical, and scientific explanations for historical and contemporary shamanic experiences and phenomena, from the most simplistic and naive to the highly sophisicated and saavy. Explaining is mostly for those of us here to instruct and catalog more than practice and do, I opine, yet what folks come up with is fun to read, consider, and dream into.

Some shamans 'follow the road rules' yet most do the more unusual shamanic practices to stay open to Spirit(s) and seem, to those who do not 'grok' this, to follow and break rules and make their own rules without explanation. There are many interesting discussions about shifing consciousness to be found at the Integral Institute and a few of our company who are ararchistic libertarian meta-objectivists are happy to contemplate and shamanic journey around a sacred conversation between Ken Wilber and Nathanial Brandon.

This weblog is more about wilder or un-traditional 'shamanic shifts' found in unusual settings and circumstances and recently Digg.com was suggested as a place to go looking for more shamanic shifting around the web. The link that was sent was this and it was suggested that we look through Kaboodle too. Yes...many of the social networking webspaces like Flikr probably will bring more shamanic shifting to the attention of someone of us shamanic web voyagers soon. We already keep pages at del.icio.us and since Zaadz is not crashing anyone's IE anymore these days (that we know of) we are back there exploring.

Lately most of us have been procrastinating our returning and telling the tales.

Parapsi-ology...and new fields of shifting action

Here is a website (linked in the title) concerned with direct experience of the non-ordinary alongside the ordinary and a book suggestion and a book review on a favorite subject, the Trickster archetype. The article that drew us to the site during a search for after-life research on what seemed like a whim is here: After Life Research and the Shamanic Turn by Michael Grosso.

This other website might be another newest favorite place to hang out and develop a presence, though it is too soon to tell....shift in action

...by the Institute of Noetic Sciences that looks almost like the ultimate happy shifting grounds. It is tipping the page rank bar and a few of us will be exploring its wonders next...with an ounce of caution. (Just a heads up: The Institue of Noetic Sciences is a pay-to-join membership organization and membership at 'Shift In Action' costs $10.00/month though there are articles and guest 'declarations' that may be read by anyone.)

Pod Openings: emerging visions & dreams

Update: All of a sudden Zaadz began crashing IE during visits. They may solve the issue soon but it is only fair to warn folks! (24 April 2006)

A few of us have been spending some moments journeying through some Zaadz pods by Zaadzsters like Akhentek who inabits the web here and here, and noticed an invitation to contribute to emerging visions (linked in the title). Nearby we found a link to art by Joshua (Zona) Levy here. Re-creative world transformers are invited to apply to join Zaadz (dutch for seed).

Zaadzstership can be momentously whelmingly while consuming, yet anyone may visit Zaadz just to browse pods and profiles and explore the fruitful fields of links to encouraging dreams, stories, and pictures anywhere. Some are saying Zaadz is shows signs of being a cult...and for now we say it shows signs of being a conspiracy of compassion. (We say wonder, wait, and see.)

Imaginify...

We are adventuring closer to what we would call universal, or original, and frontier shamanism...individual, cellular, planetary, universal, multiversical, cosmic, direct, immediate, experiential, spiritual, multidimensional, wholing, integral, open-source, inspirational, intuitive, instinctive, self-educational, emergent, alchemical, synergetic, mythopoetical, hypothetical, synthetical, technological, interconnecting nexi - re-creative seed pod spheres and spirals bursting and sprouting all around in radiating, resonating, feedback looping circles and cycles. The images and brands and catch words and phrases associated with these wondrous new commotions of Life Spirit and the Spirits of Life are multiplying logrithmically, too.

And what a thrill all of this is...No matter what trials and tribulations are troubling earth's latest momentous days, all is going or getting well, anyway!

We Found This: crystal and spore metamedia environment

When you begin here, with akhentek, over at Zaadz.com, and follow your choice of links to links, you will find some webby sites of intentional visionary artistic expressions unfolding. You can apply to join Zaadz, still in pre-beta, from the Zaadz front page...or you can ask our Companion S!TW for an invitation through our home website's CONTACT US form.

If you request an invitation to Zaadz, be sure to write a detail or two, such as the words "Zaadz invitation" and "send" instead of just "OK!" or some clever, cryptic vagueary...This form is used here and there multipurposefully. We blogged about Zaadz in the last post here, and for now I shall add only that there is an almost overwhelming enthusiasm and ecstasy being expressed throughout the new Zaadz community. Only two of us have joined to create a presence there - because of the attention and energy-flow being requested. (I hope you are curious and check it out!)

Look At What Grows From This Seed Pod Polyhub

Besides the title link above, there is more new self, consciousness, and world transformation being catalyzed and cultivated at Zaadz. Here is Life Spirit shifting and dreaming, reviving itself anew through syzygy and synergy in the marketplace. Another way to bypass the complications of traditional shamanic ritual for beneficial change, is practicing Thinkarete, an ancient science of mind being re-instigated by contemporary philosopher and Zaadz CEO Brian.
